MOUNTAIN BIKE RIDES IN THE TUCSON AREA

This is a collection of our favorite rides. There are links to maps and altitude profiles. The collection will grow over time. At the present time, many of the rides are mapped but lack descriptions.

The maps in this collection are pdf files. By their very nature, maps must contain a lot of detail, so the files are fairly large. In some cases, putting the map on a single page produces a map in which the fine details are hard to see, so for a few maps an alternative tiled version (splitting the map into several panes) is also provided.

These maps and ride descriptions are offered as is. Use them at your own risk. Some of the trails are very hard to follow, and we strongly recommend that you have a GPS with you if you are new to the area. That way, you can at least find your way back the way you came, even if you cannot find the trail.

Generally, paths marked in red are traced from a GPS. Paths marked in other colors are plotted by hand, and in some cases they are only conjectured to exist.

Check the SAMBA Photo Gallery for pictures of many of these rides.

The best printed map of the Tucson area is called "The Map" and is available at local bike shops. I do not recommend any guidebook.
